Our Mission

Simply put, our mission is to make past and present technology available to all. Starting with our local community, our overall goals are to provide a space to restore and display vintage computers, process out-of-warranty computers and parts that will be donated to local beneficiaries that don’t have access to technology. Recycling anything that can’t be re-used or re-purposed.

Along with this mission, our other initiatives include creating instructional videos, using 3D printing technologies in fabricating unavailable parts, and bringing together people that are passionately nostalgic for the older technology that is the foundation for all current technology we sometimes take for granted.

Education

Save the Machine and its members endeavor to be lifelong learners. We also believe in sharing our knowledge and expertise with those who are interested in learning new skills or sharpening old ones. We can facilitate classes on 3D printing, electronics trouble-shooting and repair, IT related infrastructure, the fundamentals of cybersecurity awareness, and many others.

Community Support/Tech Re-Use Program

We often get donations of still usable pieces of technology that we refurbish. The beneficiaries from these items can be individuals who may be less fortunate or may not have the means to afford their own or other nonprofit organizations that are serving the community and may have limited resources which limit them from purchasing new hardware devices.

Technology Museum

Save the Machine is home to hundreds of technology artifacts. Our collection ranges from vintage gaming consoles, to computers of the 1970s-2000s, to LaserDiscs and VHS, to 1960's mainframe equipment. We're continually restoring and preserving vintage technology so future generations can experience the technological growth that's occurred in the last few decades.
